Condemnation of Pulwama Terror Attack

On 21 February 2019, Mission organized a meeting to condemn the cowardly terrorist in Pulwama, State of Jammu & Kashmir in India and pay homage and condolence to the martyrs of Pulwama terror attack of 14 February 2019.

Earlier on 14 February 2019, Spokesman of Ministry of External Affairs of India said, “this heinous and despicable act has been perpetrated by Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), a Pakistan-based and supported terrorist organisation proscribed by the United Nations and other countries. This terror group is led by the international terrorist Masood Azhar, who has been given full freedom by Government of Pakistan to operate and expand his terror infrastructure in territories under the control of Pakistan and to carry out attacks in India and elsewhere with impunity.”

In his message of condolences H.E. Mr. Imomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan said, “It is with great sadness that we received the news of the terrorist attack committed in Jammu and Kashmir, which caused the death of forty-five security force personnel and injured dozens of citizens. This cruel crime reaffirms the urgent need to continue the merciless struggle of mankind against terrorism. While expressing feelings of grief and sympathy to the friendly people of India, please convey our deep condolences to the families and friends of the victims. We wish a speedy recovery to all those injured.”

Ambassador Somnath Ghosh while condemning the terrorist attack said that the ‘Fedayeen’ terrorist was a member of ‘Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) Terrorist Organization who hit a bus carrying Indian police forces by a car loaded with explosive RDX. After the attack JeM publically claimed responsibility for the attack and released video of the attacker. Ambassador Ghosh demanded that JeM Chief Masood Azhar should be designated a terrorist under the 1267 Committee, UNSC. He also demanded that Pakistan should eliminate the organization JeM from its territory because JeM is a designated terrorist organization under the UN.

Members of the Indian community and local Tajik people expressed grief and condemned the attack. In the end of condolence meeting, candle was lit and silence was observed to pay respect to the martyrs.
