Celebration of the 78th Independence Day of India

The Embassy of India in Dushanbe celebrated the 78th Independence Day of India today. The event commenced with the hoisting of the national tricolour/‘Tiranga’ and followed by singing of ‘Jana Gana Mana’, the national anthem of India.

The Ambassador of India, Mr. Rajesh Uike, read the ‘Address to the Nation’ of the Hon’ble President of India. In her address, the President extended her heartiest Independence Day greetings to the fellow citizens of India and highlighted the nation’s achievements since independence. The President called upon citizens to continue working with energy and enthusiasm for the country’s socio-economic progress over the next quarter century, leading to the centenary of the India’s independence.

The Embassy is also celebrating ‘Bharat Week – a festival of Indian culture’ coinciding with the 78th Independence Day of India. The week-long festival, from August 13 to 19, features various elements showcasing different facets of Indian culture, including music, dance, film, yoga, and more.

As part of the Bharat Week, the Independence Day celebration continued with a vibrant cultural program organized by the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center. Students from the center showcased India’s rich cultural heritage through their performances, including renditions of Indian patriotic songs and traditional dances.

In addition to the cultural performances, the event also featured a drawing competition that attracted young art enthusiasts. Participants expressed their creativity and love for India through their artwork. The winners of the competition were awarded gifts and certificates in recognition of their artistic talents.

A diverse gathering of Indian nationals, friends of India in Tajikistan, and Embassy officials attended the ceremonial event held at the Chancery premises. The celebration of India’s 78th Independence Day and Bharat Week, with an enthusiastic participation from Indian nationals and friends of India is a testament to the strong bonds of friendship between people of both countries.  

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the Embassy official, who expressed sincere gratitude to all the participants and attendees for making the celebration a grand success.
