Speech by Mr. Rajesh Uike, Ambassador of the
Republic of India to the Republic of Tajikistan on ICCR Day
April 19, 2025 (Saturday)
An evening of
Indian Classical Dance by ICCR Maestro Ms. Vidha Lal & her Ensemble - Sooroosh Hall
Hon’ble Padma Shri Prof. Rajabov Habibullo, my fellow
members of the diplomatic community, Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is an honour and a true pleasure to welcome you all to
this very special cultural evening, dedicated to the timeless art of Indian
classical dance, presented by the renowned ICCR maestro, Ms. Vidha Lal, and her
esteemed ensemble.
Tonight’s performance is not merely an event—it is a
celebration of the deep-rooted cultural bonds between India and Tajikistan,
bonds that span centuries of shared heritage, mutual respect, and artistic
inspiration.
Ms. Vidha Lal is a celebrated exponent of Kathak, one of
the most graceful and expressive classical dance forms of India, known for its
intricate footwork, captivating spins, and the power of storytelling through
movement. She is not only a performer of exceptional brilliance, but also a
cultural ambassador who carries forward India’s rich artistic traditions to
audiences around the world.
We are especially honoured by the presence of
Deputy Minister of Culture of Tajikistan, whose unwavering support and
collaboration make such cultural exchanges possible and meaningful. The
commitment of the Government of Tajikistan to preserving and promoting cultural
harmony is truly commendable.
This evening is also a tribute to the enduring friendship
between our two countries—a friendship built not only on strategic partnerships
and economic cooperation, but also on the soft power of culture, art, music,
and dance. These are the bridges that connect peoples, transcend languages, and
unite hearts.
I invite you all to immerse yourselves in the rhythm,
elegance, and spirit of Kathak this evening. Let us witness how tradition
speaks through every movement, and how art continues to connect civilizations
across time and geography.
Thank you once again for being with us.
Enjoy the performance!
Dhanyavad!
Tashakkur!
